Friends of Adonai was born out of sheer compassion in 2003, helping solicit funding and volunteer services for the Adonai Orphanage then located in Ungwan-Romi, Kaduna state. An undergraduate met the proprietress of the Adonai Orphanage while producing her project which was a TV documentary. The orphanage was not in the best of state and she was moved to join forces with the hard working Mrs Elizabeth Afuwape to provide a better living for the children in the home.

The CSR evolved as the needs changed over time but maintained contact and support for the Orphanage long after graduation even till date. The Friends of Adonai organization began giving priority to scholarships to less privileged children outside the Orphanage as publicity & support for the orphanage increased.

We are now concentrating on setting up SMEs to under-privileged mothers (especially widowed, divorced/separated).

The re-focused NGO, Friends of Adonai is relying on proceeds from the sale of the book “Scribbles & Doodles” for starters, 20% of sales from the Orchid Clothing line and the support & contributions of like minded people (humans who have the gift of giving) to achieve its new vision. Our cardinal values are compassion, sisterhood, industry & accountability.

We hope to build a robust and dedicated chain of support through volunteered mentorship and supervision of beneficiaries. We cannot reach the entire world but rather than do nothing about the problems we see, we will reach the world around us to the best of our ability, one woman at a time.

So help us God.
